Item Description

This breathtaking platter is in the shape of a scallop shell just like the ones which dot our Maine beaches.  This platter was a part of the Shell Series from several years ago and features Edgecomb Potter's signature style of glazing.  The outer edges and ruffles of the shell are glazed in ocean blue, with ivory and green splashes in the bottom of the platter.  The colors bring to mind images of ocean waves and seafoam, seagrass, and sandy beaches.  Perfect for your beach cottage or as an accent to any room.

In 1976, Richard and Chris Hilton began building a dream of making pottery in a one-room schoolhouse on the road to Boothbay Harbor. Thirty years later, Edgecomb Potters has a national brand recognition for a high caliber of work with an inventive spirit.

In this era of mass-produced products made overseas, Richard and Chris continue to create porcelain pottery with their own clay and glazes in their Maine studio.

Richard's passion for glaze development has led him to be considered a national standard to watch as recognized by articles in Niche Magazine, Boston Globe, The Dallas Times, San Diego Union, Ceramics Monthly, American Style, Downeast, and other publications.

In 2003, Edgecomb Potters was announced as a winner of one of America's "Best of the Road" by Rand McNally Road Atlas.
