Item Description
This wine is a blend from Rochioli's Estate Chardonnay vineyards. The blend consists of sixty percent Mid-40 and forty percent River Block. It is a fine example of the unique characteristics from their property and the Russian River Valley. Aromas of ripe apple, apricot, vanilla and a touch of spice combine with the rich apple flavors and crisp acidity. Although young now, those with the patience to cellar this wine will be rewarded.
Reviews:
Wine Spectator - Raw and a bit rustic now, with a tight, concentrated core of pear, fig, apple and smoky, toasty oak. This is most alluring on the finish. Drink now through 2021.
The Wine Advocate - The 2012 Chardonnay Estate, which comes from an assortment of different sites, exhibits lots of orange marmalade, caramelized citrus, honeysuckle and background wet gravelly minerality. Medium-bodied and loaded with fruit.
International Wine Cellar - Pale gold. Deeply pitched aromas of poached pear, almond and honey are brightened by a suggestion of minerally oyster shell. Round and velvety but at the same time showing vibrancy to its ripe orchard fruit and melon flavors. A late jolt of lemon pith adds bite to a supple, clinging finish. More hefty than usual for this bottling, which Tom Rochioli attributes entirely to the vintage.
