Item Description

Owner/Winemaker Erik Miller says, "My philosophy as the winemaker is to keep my thumbprint off the wines as best I can. I want to show terroir. The most unique thing about wine is not the barrel that I’m using, because everyone has access to the same barrels that I buy. The most unique thing is the fact that these vines grow and they take up sense of place – the soil type, the microclimate, where they grow. I could very easily put too heavy a hand on the wines by using too much oak, by having too much extraction, by adding acid, by doing things that would take away from the sense of place."

This special bottle bears Erik's signature.

Located in West County, 10 miles from the coast as the crow flies, Peters Vineyard is the perfect location for Pinot Noir. The soil composition is a rich Goldridge Sandy Loam. With consistent fog extending hang time, the fruit is fully developed and loaded with complexity. This former Gravenstein apple orchard was replanted in the early 80s by Randy Peters, who paired the right clone with the right vineyard site. The pinot noir from this block is made up of Waldenswil (2A) Clone and 115 Dijon Clone, which are planted on 5-C and 101-14 rootstocks.

Winemaker Notes:

The Waldensiel clone, which hails from Switzerland, is a bigger cluster which has a very Burgundian character of complexity and acidity. Floral and delicate, showing the feminine side of the varietal, this wine shows beautiful rose petals with a red apple-skin character. The wine continues to open up in the glass, with aromas becoming more complex. The acidity makes it a beautiful food wine.
