Very large facsimile reprint of Barraud's New Zealand; Graphic and Descriptive. Few copies exist of the first edition published in 1877 - this facsimile was limited to 1000 copies of which 750 copies were reserved for sale in New Zealand.
Decorative colour printed title page with oval chromolithograph view, printed title, dedication, vi pp and list of subscribers. Illustrated with 24 FINE LARGE COLOURFUL CHROMOLITHOGRAPH VIEWS, and 19 plain lithographs on 6 sheets- all with accompanying text. Complete. EXTRA ILLUSTRATED with a fine large hand coloured wood engraving by Samuel Calvert - engraved by L. Buvelot and dated 1879- titled The Lyre Bird. A very decorative work on New Zealand. Charles Decimus Barraud 1822-1897 was a New Zealand pharmacist and artist. William Thomas Locke Travers 1819-1903, the editor, was a New Zealand worthy and was a founder and life governor of the New Zealand Institute.
