FINAL WEEK!  Copper Beech Unique Craft Furniture and Collectibles

The Copper Beech Project at Bet Am Shalom is IN ITS FINAL WEEK.

In April, 2012, one of the synagogue’s signature Copper Beech trees had to be cut down. Thanks to Jay Siegelaub, we were able rescue two large sections of the tree so that they could be processed and converted into lumber to make furniture.  The first piece derived from this beautiful wood was the new Torah Stand, designed & built by Alan Ganek, and currently resident in our Beit Midrash.  A bench (pictured) by Jay Siegelaub, whose work is featured in this auction, now resides in the synagogue library.

A number of tables, inspired by the “live edge” style of master woodworker George Nakashima, were made by Jay from this Copper Beech tree, and are being offered to the synagogue to be auctioned off. A number of smaller collectible items made from the Copper Beech are also available and make great gifts.  Proceeds from the auction will be used to cover expenses incurred for the preparation of the wood, and to benefit Bet Am Shalom.

The auction will run from February 1, 2015 to February 22, 2015, with proceeds going to Bet Am Shalom Synagogue in order to support our programs. Please bid on these one-of-a-kind tables and mementos for yourself, or as a gift.  Each item is hand-crafted, and is inscribed and signed by the woodworker.  You'll not only be supporting Bet Am Shalom's community, you'll be acquiring a piece of our history.

PLEASE NOTE:  All items in this auction are for local delivery in Westchester County, New York.  The auction sponsors are unable to undertake the cost and effort of packaging these unique items for shipment.

Not a bidder?  Your cash donation of any amount can help!

Jay Siegelaub has constructed a beautiful bench from the Copper Beech (pictured above), which he has donated to the synagogue and which will be placed in the library.  If you would like to support the Copper Beech project but do not care to bid on an item, please consider a donation to offset the expenses of the project and sponsor of this piece of furniture, which will grace our for our synagogue for many years to come.
