Item Description
Gift certificate entitles the bearer to one 4'' x 5'' ruby ambrotype studio portrait at Genesee Libby Studio.
Genesee Libby Studio specializes in the 19th-century wet-plate collodion process to make unique direct positive photographs on glass (ambrotypes) and on metal (tintypes). We are among only a handful of commercial portrait studios in the country that create these handmade, one-of-a-kind images. Each one is a work of art unto itselfevery plate is made by hand from start to finish.
Genesee Libby has hand-painted backdrops available for your portrait session, just like studios did in the 1800s. We continue to expand our selection of props and costumes. Exposure times in the studio have ranged between 5 and 20 seconds, and seasonal outdoor sessions can be arranged which can shorten the exposure to a few seconds.
Rochester-based artist Jenn Libby has over ten years experience working with the collodion process and uses it for both portraiture and other artistic endeavors. Whether you want to make up who you are or just come in for a straightforward portrait to see what the collodion reveals, we will work with you to make beautiful heirlooms that you and your family can treasure for generations.
We can do wet-plate collodion portrait sessions in the studio and on-location. We also do commercial commissions, editorial work, and fine art sales, and offer workshops for those interested in learning the process.
Studio portrait sessions are by appointment only. We book sessions seven days a week. Please contact us to book your portrait sitting at 585-789-1811 or jenn@geneseelibby.com. http://geneseelibby.com/
Certificate expires on 05/31/16.
