Item Description

This Breadwarmer Basket from SERRV contains a whitewashed terracotta stone that has been incised with the Tree of Life and sits in a handwoven kaisa grass basket with palm wrap. The Breadwarmer Basket is great for keeping bread or rolls warm throughout your holiday dinner.

Each Breadwarmer Basket measures approximately 12 inches wide by 8.5 inches deep and 3.5 inches high.

Breadwarmer Use and Care instructions:

  • Do not put the Basket in the oven.
  • Rinse and dry the terracotta stone before its first use.
  • To use, preheat the oven to 350°F, then place the terracotta stone in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, then place the terracotta stone into the basket.
  • For best results, wrap the food in a towel and place it on the warm stone.
  • To clean the terracotta stone, just rinse it with water. The terracotta stone should not be put in the dishwasher.

Item Special Note

Your purchase provides artisans in Bangladesh much-needed employment, a fair wage, freedom from exploitation, access to healthcare and education for their children. Sales of terracotta handicrafts also benefit small-scale farmers who produce environmentally friendly jute, a key agricultural export.

Since 1981, SERRV International has partnered with artisans in Bangladesh, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, these artisans also gain access to business training, awareness of women's rights, health and nutrition programs, and education for their children who would otherwise never attend school. Artisans are also able to improve their local environment, investing in deep wells for fresh drinking water, sanitary toilets in homes, and community reforestation through distribution of tree saplings.
