Leah Mahiri is an artist, writer and art teacher at GBCA and Illuminate Creative + Theatrical Arts Co. in Attleboro, MA. She is a graduate of CSUS and RISD. She loves to make art that captures the beauty of creation in nature. Her latest works have been shown at the AAM's 2024 Flower Show.
"Life Sprouts From the Cracks" is a painting pulled from the artist's collection called "Art Bucket Musings." Leah is an art teacher and she washes her student's paint brushes in a bucket. When the paint settles, she pours off the water and sees what is left, laying paper in the mix of paint remnants. After it dries Leah tries to see what is in the colors and smudges left behind, sort of like a psychological ink blot experiment. These hummingbirds emerged with help from watercolors and pencils.
