National Women's History Week Buttons
- Item Number
- 224
Item Description
Although the first National Women's History Week (NWHW) was declared by President Carter in 1980, we didn't begin to create buttons until 1981.
Using our logo designed by artist Kathleen Smith and delineating the days of that year's National Women's History Week Buttons from 1981 to 1986. The 1984 button is missing, most likely it is on a long-time supporters bullet board. You'll notice that the dates of NWHW changed each year to always include March 8th, International Women's Day.
Congress declared National Women's History Month in 1987 which is why the National Women's History Week Button collection ends in 1986.
