Item Description
When the online auction closes, the winning bidder will receive a "You Won!" alert from Bidding For Good. On the evening of 10/19/14, the winning bidder will receive an additional email from The Hopewell Valley Arts Council with final details of the sale.
The Stampede Artists who embellished this ox were: Hopewell Elementary School Student Artists and Gay Hong Hua - Art Teacher. For more photos and to read their Design Statement, visit this ox at The Hopewell Valley Arts Council Stampede website.
The finished artwork began as a "naked" cast ox manufactured by The Theme Factory of Philadelphia using a fiber-reinforced polyester laminating resin. The finished ox has been sealed with Golden's MSA Archival Varnish with UVLS (UltraViolet Light Stabilizers) in a gloss finish, suitable for outdoor or indoor use.
The ox is 8 feet long from tip to tail, 23" wide and 60" high, and fits through a standard doorway. It weighs approximately 100 pounds. While awkward to pick up, it is very moveable & steady. The ox will arrive on removable 2x4s, ready for you to install.
Item Special Note
IMPORTANT: Please be sure to read these special instructions regarding costs associated with the purchase of this ox. By bidding on this ox, you are agreeing to the additional costs that will be charged to your credit card if you are the final bidder:
· Administrative Handling Fees: 12% of final bid
· Delivery Cost: $100 Flat Fee
Oxen delivery will be made within 15 days of the close of the auction to a garage or driveway within 15 miles of Pennington, NJ. Please contact us if your requested delivery location is greater than 15 miles or if special shipping is required. Additional charges will be determined and agreed upon prior to delivery. Shortly after close of the auction, the winner will be contacted for exact delivery information.
The Arts Council has made arrangements with The Green Scene to deliver the oxen. The Green Scene is the local landscaping business that has installed most of the oxen throughout the Valley. They are available for hire to provide additional services, such as reinstalling the ox with cabling or enhancing your landscaping around the ox.
The cabling system that was used for the exhibition costs approximately $50, but depending on the location selected, relocation may require "before you dig" calls to Utilities and additional manpower. For more information, contact Drewe at 609-462-4501.
Due to the non-permanent nature of the artwork, the oxen are not intended to be climbed on or handled roughly. Annual reapplication of weatherproofing may be required to extend its durability for outdoor use.
The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The purchase of an ox may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. Given the subjective nature of "valuing artwork", we strongly recommend that you consult with your tax adviser to determine the tax approach best suited for your personal situation.
