Item Description
Palaquium philippense-from the Naples Botanical Garden
This species is a true collector’s plant, suitable for a large garden or public space. This species is related to the famous Gutta Percha tree of commerce a century ago, and continues to be a source of latex. The tree will grow quite large and sports beautiful large foliage with a striking coppery underside. Resembling a large version of the Florida native Beauty Leaf Tree, this species can grow to well over 60 feet tall. It should be planted in a wind and sun-protected location, with ample water and mulch. The tree is rare in cultivation all parts of the US.
