Miguel Saludes is a Cuban-born, American visual artist. In 2005 he immigrated to the US and settled in Miami, FL. Saludes holds an MFA in painting from the University of FL, and a BFA in painting from FL International University. Saludes has recently exhibited at the Farmington Museum, NM and the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, LA, among others. His work is part of private collections across the US, and public collections such as the Brownsville Museum permanent collection & The Rodriguez Collection at the Kendall Art Center in Miami.
Still Life with Power Outlet is part of a series of paintings Saludes produced inspired by often-overlooked objects and spaces in the proximity of his studio. Saludes executes his works standing directly in front of his subjects, following a tradition established by classical landscape painters. Saludes believes this method of painting allows him to develop an intimate dialog with his inanimate subjects, which acquire a new breath of life in the finished paintings, aided by expressive brushwork, bold color schemes, warm lighting, and thick impasto oil paint. miguelsaludesart.com
