Drew Brees began his football career as a quarterback in high school, then later enrolled at Purdue University and led the Boilermakers to a Big Ten Championship and a Rose Bowl appearance.
Drafter by the NFL's San Diego Chargers in 2001, Brees earned the first of numerous Pro Bowl selections in 2004, before moving on to the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He led the Saints to victory in Super Bowl XLIV in 2009, and went on to shatter league records for completions, passing yards and touchdowns. He set an NFL record with 5,476 passing yards in 2011, also topping the league that year with a career-best 46 touchdowns.
In 2018, he surpassed the NFL career records for completions (set by Brett Favre) and passing yards (set by Peyton Manning). That year he also completed a personal-best 74.4 percent of his throws and earned a 12th Pro Bowl selection. Brees also set another NFL record that December by toppling Manning's career total of 539 passing touchdowns. Brees shows no sign of slowing down and is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time.
