Item Description

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution designed to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens regardless of sex. Proponents assert it would end legal distinctions between men and women in matters of divorce, property, employment, and other matters. The first version of an ERA was written by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman and introduced in Congress in December 1923.

The campaign for the Amendment has mobilized hundreds of thousands of women and men to work for its ratification. This new vibrant movement is moving forward to make the Equal Rights Amendment the next Amendment to the Constitution.  Become part of this ever-expanding movement the ERA Coalition  https://www.eracoalition.org/

This poster defines a specific time in history, but it is only one chapter in the ongoing campaign for Equal Rights. Still, it is a chapter that needs to be recognized and celebrated for the sacrifices of the hundreds of thousands who worked for ratification.

ERA Last March Poster. Designed by Jane Guthrie and sold by CA NOW in 1981.

Last March for ratification.  36 States had Ratified; the last push for 2 more states.

This ERA March in Los Angeles was the largest ERA march to that date, filled with celebrity activists.

This poster is currently framed in Black metal, and matted.
