Raise a Toast to Slainte Mhath (Good Health) on a Spirited Trip to Edinburgh, Scotland (Europe) for Five Days & Four Nights at Fraser Suites Edinburgh in Two Guestrooms for Four, Including a Whisky and Food Pairing Dinner at a Whisky Society, and a Five-Hour Distillery Tour (Land Only)
Edinburgh has an amazing history soaked in the whisky industry - perhaps it's no coincidence that whisky translated means water of life! Nosing, swirling and tasting Scotch whisky is a quintessential part of any journey to the Scottish capital, as you'd expect by counting the number of bars and shops dedicated to Scotland's national drink! Sample a dram or two of the magic elixir on a whisky and food pairing tour, as well as a five-hour distillery tour that allows you to create your own bottle, then raise your glass to toast to good health - Slainte Mhath (pronounced Slanj-a-va)!
Indulge in this golden-colored spirit during a whisky and food pairing dinner in a whisky society, where your very own ambassador will guide you through five courses and five drams, explaining the variety of flavors. Did you know that adding water changes the flavors? Learn why and about so much more at this fun and entertaining dinner, which will take place in a private room for an intimate and relaxing experience. Whether you share this amber liquid with friends and family, or you can make new friends over a fine pour of the stuff at your local cocktail or dive bar, you have endless options for enjoyment - drink it neat, shake or stir it into a cocktail.
For a truly immersive and comprehensive experience, you'll learn all about the story of whisky and sample multiple options for drams on this five-hour distillery tour. Just as every part of the process - from barley to fermentation to maturation - affects the flavors, your appreciation of the amber dram will also find new depths. Begin by putting your nose to the test by smelling 20 unique scents, from lavender to pear drop - learning the vocabulary of scents will enhance your tasting experience of five Glengoyne whiskies, a selection of specially chosen single casks, and a range of sherry samples. After ample time nosing, swirling and tasting, it's time for you to create your own Glengoyne Highland Single Malt! Using samples from five very different Glengoyne single casks, you can taste and nose, add and stir, until you're completely satisfied with your very own 200ml bottle of absolutely unique whisky! Finish the tour with your own unique whisky created by you, presented in a Glengoyne bottle, and boxed with a label, as well as a Master Class certificate.
A beautiful and cultured city, you will find a wealth of things to do in Edinburgh. Discover nearby historic attractions like the shops along Princes Street, the National Museum of Scotland or the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, all within walking distance of the hotels. Start your Royal Mile journey at Edinburgh Castle and take in the dramatic panorama over Scotland's capital. From there, walk down the cobbled street past the St. Giles Cathedral, John Knox's House and shops selling Scottish crafts and tartan goods. At the end of the Mile, you'll find a uniquely Scottish marriage of old and new power, where Holyrood Palace sits opposite the Scottish Parliament. After a day spent sightseeing, Edinburgh at night is not to be missed. Take in a show at the Edinburgh Playhouse, enjoy a meal at one of Edinburgh's Michelin-starred restaurants or dance the night away in the lively clubs on George Street or the Cowgate.
