Item Description
Description of Process: The fifth grade’s study of microscopes, lenses and field of view—combined with an introduction to Pop Art and artist Roy Lichtenstein—gave life to this art project! Students chose every day objects of interest and illustrated “magnified’ portions of the objects as if they were looking through a magnifying lens or microscope. Each student assumed a role of either layout artist, illustrator, or painter, according to artistic interest and proficiency. Using the backs of skateboard decks as their canvases, the layout artists chose the design, the illustrators drew onto the boards, and painters applied the medium. Six wicked cool Pop Art skateboard decks are the results of this highly collaborative effort. Each skateboard has grip tape on them so they’re ready to ride as soon as trucks, wheels, bearing, hardware are applied.
