Item Description

Become immersed in the local life and environs of the Navajo Nation in Round Rock, Arizona! Join GDS parent, Faith Roessel and her family for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of a three-day visit to the Navajo Nation. Faith will design--and join you for--a customized itinerary of participating in and observing Navajo life. Begin your trip at the Roessel homestead, spending your first night in a ceremonial hogan helping prepare a traditional Navajo meal and becoming acquainted with Navajo beliefs and lifeways. The next few days will be filled with a wide array of activities, which may include hiking Canyon de Chelly National Monument to see Anasazi cliff dwellings, visiting Navajo historical sites, touring the renowned Navajo Nation Museum, shopping at the Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise and Window Rock flea market, or standing in four states at once at the Four Corners Monument! Other activities could include attending local events such as a rodeo or pow wow, day trips to national monuments and parks, or even a personalized service learning experience! Airfare to and from Albuquerque for two is included--trip can include up to four adults or your immediate family (maximum family of six). Trip can be customized to accommodate interests or children's ages and must take place anytime between July 3-10. Trip will be two nights and three days, with one of the nights spent in a hotel (at winner's expense). But please feel free to extend your trip and travel on your own! The Four Corners region is rich in national parks, monuments, camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
