Artists
Item Description
Erin Kornegay is a self-taught artist whose lifelong love of art and design inspired her to start her own company in Wilmington, N.C., in 1997. Portfauxlio Design specializes in art reflecting a broad range of styles, techniques and mediums. Her mask honors her best friend, Shannon Britt Miller, who died suddenly on Aug. 14, 2009. During a private memorial held on a beach, 100 butterflies were released representing the moment of her soul's release. "To me, butterflies symbolize each precious moment in our lives," she says. "We spend so much time chasing after things that have no meaning in our lives that we often miss the small things glimmering right under our feet."
