Oil Painting of New Orleans
- Item Number
- 408
- Estimated Value
- 300 USD
Item Description
An unsigned painting that we believe shows the view down Chartres Street in New Orleans toward St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square reveals the dusky and deserted side of the city--when the revelers go home, just before the workers emerge to get the city moving again. The architecture is pure French Quarter, and the haze coming off the mighty Mississippi gives the winning bidder a touch of the Big Easy in Birmingham.
As described by 5th grader, Bailey Smith:
"This wonderful oil painting features a rainy New Orleans day on Jackson Square. The realistic, colorful houses are portrayed leading up to St. Louis Cathedral. When you look at this painting, it feels like you are actually in New Orleans."
