Item Description
Description of Process: The 6th graders used their own photographed silhouettes and writing to create a pair of complementary works that honor the value of each student’s individuality as well as the power of aspiration and unity. The shadows that these works create when installed move along as the day progresses, much like the middle school students that move through their day in the halls and classrooms of Audubon, building new relationships as they learn and play.
Student statements incorporated into the works include: We can fly. Watch is fly high. Why do you jump high in the sky? Let us soar. Fly with me. Here we are, ready to fly. Our lives, our world. We are your shadow, your mirror. We believe we can fly. Us, flying in the wind.
