Item Description
A highly accomplished artist of interdisciplinary art that incorporates musical concepts and theories, Nancy Mooslin has related art and music throughout her whole career. The inspiration for her violin, “To Be Sung on the Water” is a piece by Donald Crockett, Chair of the composition department at the Thornton School of Music at USC. Using a system that relates color and pitch that she developed 30 years ago, Nancy utilized a dynamic design and vibrant colors that relate to the timbre and mood of the music Donald composed.
Nancy’s work, including paintings, large public works and interactive pieces used in performance art, has been featured in 15 solo exhibitions and nearly 50 group shows, and her public works are in cities from Anaheim, Sunnyvale and Palm Desert to Escondido, West Hollywood and Laguna Beach’s Lang Park.
A recipient of a B.A. in painting from the University of California, Los Angeles and a M.F.A. in painting from California State University, Long Beach, Nancy has taught at Chapman College, as well as the Art Institute of Southern California, Laguna Beach, where she has also been Gallery Director.
Nancy’s violin will be displayed at De Bilzan Gallery, 224 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach
