Item Description

Bojan Bahic graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1992, where he was a member of the Art Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  He exhibited his multimedia art, paintings, sculpture, graphics and photography, in individual and collective exhibitions in Sarajevo, Paris, and Prague from 1993 through 1997, before he moved to the United States. His current painting and photography is shown at the Art Cube Gallery in Laguna Beach, and he also has a full service design firm in Laguna Niguel.

Bojan’s Artful Violin, a striking multimedia wall piece entitled “My Country Music,” makes a powerful political statement.  He cut his violin into three sections, resting the now-useless violin on a red paint-stained black shirt, the bow extending from the empty right sleeve. In the background on the resin-treated shirt are map prints of the former Yugoslavia states. Bojan writes, “Yugoslavia. Bosnia. Sarajevo. 4 years. Tears and Fears. Guns and Roses… Behind my smile is a hurting laugh. Behind my laugh my country fell a part. Behind my country I'm falling apart.”

Bojan’s Artful Violin will be displayed at Art Cube; 266 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach
