Item Description

Twelve bottles of moderately priced, terrific wines, from Barclay's online wine shop.

TWO BOTTLES OF 2004 Roza Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon
Delicious Cabernet from Washington State.

Barclay's says: Launched in 2002, Roza Ridge is the latest creation of Hyatt Vineyards. Already known for producing value wines, Hyatt’s new project had an ambitious goal. Producing an ultra-premium line at well below ultra-premium prices keeping up their reputation for incredible value. This mission matches Barclay’s own mission so well that it was a match made in heaven. In only their third year, 2004, the label shows some superb talent for producing superb wine. The 2004 Cabernet is a masterful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon balanced with Cabernet Franc and Merlot. There is a gorgeous dark red hue to the wine, which is simply gorgeous. The nose is tantalizing, with oaky spice and ripe fruits of blackberry and blueberry. These flavors continue straight on to the palate balanced with smooth tannins. Overall, an elegant smooth and soft wine with powerful fruit and tempered with eighteen months in oak. A star wine to go with a star dinner.

TWO BOTTLES OF 2009 Camino del Toro Malbec
Barclay's exclusive wine made with Argentina's signature grape.

Barclay's says: Malbec: a French blending grape that has emerged as the signature grape of Argentina. Instead of using Malbec in its traditional secondary blending role, the Argentinians have thrust the grape under the spotlight. The grape has shown it deserves to be there. Camino del Toro's take on the country's signature grape is a true gem. In the glass, the wine is a deep, dark red which trends towards violet. The aromas are primarily red and black fruits, notably cherries, blackberries and sweet cherries, all interlaced with notes of vanilla. Immediately upon the first sip, one knows this Malbec is a big wine with the fruit mingling with vanilla finished with round, sweet tannins. Why not pair this with another Argentina signature: steak.

TWO BOTTLES OF 2009 Camino del Toro Syrah
Argentinian Syrah: a Barclay's exclusive!

Barclay's says: While Argentina is known for its wines with one French grape in particular, the Argentinians have shown that they know what they're doing with more than just Malbec. Camino del Toro, a Barclay's exclusive, has taken another iconic French grape and given it the Argentinian flair while remaining true to the grape's origins. The result is a Syrah that could make France proud. A dark red in color with gorgeous notes of maroon, the Camino del Toro is immediately striking. Fruit and spice characterize the nose with hints of eucalyptus, wood, vanilla, tobacco, nutmeg and licorice all present in a seductive blend. The palate is classically Syrah, strong and spicy with rounded tannins and a long and lingering aftertaste. With the wine representing the classic French origins so well, why not pair this with another classic for Syrah: lamb.

TWI BOTTLES OF NV Melanto Terrace Zinfandel
A Zin to be treasured with your family and close friends.

Barclay's says: Melanto Terrace's winemaker grew up on a street of the same name and calls his wines a tribute to all the good times with friends and family on Melanto Terrace. At Barclay's, we think this is exactly how the Melanto Terrace Zin should be enjoyed. This non-vintage Zin is strong-bodied yet it posseses an elegant refinement. The nose is full of black fruit which continues on the palate with chocolate and spice notes. It's all rounded out with a long and memorable finish. If one is dining elegantly, consider pairing with delicious Osso Bucco. Bear in mind that this is also a perfect Zin for the classic cheeseburger, a BBQ or a picnic.

TWO BOTTLES of Washington Hills 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Described as "big and juicy with raspberry and vanilla notes."

TWO BOTTLES of 2007 Bridgman Merlot, from the Yakima Valley.  A moderatly priced wine that users rave about. One reviewer describes it this way:

"Clear, medium intensity, ruby red color. Baked red cherry, ripe plums, tart raspberry and sweet vanilla/spice aromas and flavors are jam packed in this extreme-value Merlot. The tannins are soft and silky; the acid deftly balanced. Crowd pleaser!"
