Item Description

Attend the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's performance of Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 2 in style! This exclusive auction item includes four hard to get box seat tickets to the MSO's Saturday June 11 concert, when MSO Music Director Edo de Waart closes the 2010-2011 season leading the Milwaukee Symphony, Chorus and soloists Twyla Robinson and Kelley O'Connor in Mahler's awe-inspiring Resurrection Symphony.

Plus more for the winning bidder! MSO Chorus Director Lee Erickson invites you and your three guests to attend the closed dress rehearsal Thursday evening June 9. After the rehearsal you and your guests are invited to go backstage to meet Maestro de Waart. Edo de Waart became the MSO's Music Director in 2009. He also serves as chief conductor and artistic director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor laureate of the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland, artistic partner with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and in 2012/13 will become Chief Conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic. As a guest conductor, Maestro de Waart has appeared with every major orchestra in the world.

MSO Chorus Director Lee Erickson has led the Chorus since the death of its founder Margaret Hawkins in 1993, and is the 2011 recipient of the prestigious "Distinguished Citizen--Professional in the Arts" award from Milwaukee's Civic Music Association.

In 52 years of achievements, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has forged its own path, gaining respect artistically, serving its community, and bringing all that music has to offer into the lives of many thousands. The MSO is the largest cultural organization in Wisconsin, receiving national critical acclaim under the direction of Music Director Edo De Waart. If you haven't seen the MSO you've probably heard them: the symphony's nationally syndicated radio broadcasts rank among the nation's largest collections and are heard on more than 240 stations throughout the United States each year.
