Item Description
Makali’i, a 54-foot double hulled, Hawaiian voyaging canoe, is renowned for its voyages to Tahiti, Marquesas Islands, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Guam and Saipan as well as throughout the state of Hawaii. During each voyage the Makali`i has shared the knowledge of wayfinding, canoe building, resource management, and connecting the forest to the ocean and environment with children and adults alike.
Built in Waimea and launched in Kawaihae in 1995, the Makali’i has taught the importance of communication skills, line handling, and cultural values which are all part of a unique perspective, “he wa`a he moku he moku he wa`a, - the canoe is an island, the island is a canoe.”
Come experience a glimpse into the voyaging lifestyle that has ensured the success and continued voyages of modern day seafaring men and women. The crew and `ohana of Makali`i will be introduce you to the onboard skills that are necessary to sail the double hulled voyaging canoe, Makali`i.

The Winning Bidder
• Reservations are required and based on availability only. The Wiinning Bidder is advised to call at least one (1) month in advance to arrange a sail.
• The sail is always dependent on the weather (and therefore may be cancelled due to unfavorable weather)
• The sail will be four (4) hours along the coast of Hawai`i Island
• Winner plus five (5) guests
Hawai`i State General Excise Tax of 4% will be added to the winning bid at checkout.
