Help Support 3 Weeks of Camp for a child with physical disabilities
Every child deserves a fun filled and productive summer experience. Your support will give one child the opportunity to enjoy a camp especially planned for them.
The Cross Island YMCA is extremely proud to offer The Lisa Beth Gerstman YMCA Summer Day Camp program serving children with physical challenges in an integrated setting. Every child deserves the opportunity to participate in a safe, caring, and fun learning environment. Our goal is to develop each child’s spirit, mind, and body through quality driven programs. This special camp is made possible through the generous support of the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation. Its donation has offset the expenses of equipment, transportation and staffing required to serve youngsters with physical disabilities. All children will receive wheelchair accessible transportation, one-on-one swimming instruction, adaptive physical activities and equipment. One coordinator and a minimum of five personal assistants will be available for every 10 campers.
Item Special Note
In 2011, 366 children were able to participate thanks to the YMCA's financial assistance program, that's 1 out of every 3 kids at our YMCA. This year $84,325 in financial aid was awarded in camp scholarships alone. Help the YMCA achieve its mission of serving ALL!
