Artist Statement: Oscar Wilde said "The artist can express anything." My medium for expression is watercolor. Based in San Francisco, California, I am inspired by the nature that surrounds us. My focus is on painting botanicals and edible plants. I enjoy walking through our local farmers market near the water and choosing the freshest organic produce to paint. I place edibles into a composition that creates a strong sense of realism. Leaves illuminated by morning light inspire me to capture the many layers of color. Starting with a light sketch and finishing with a soft color palette, I create an image with movement and life. I want my work to look alive. The journey of observation is to capture shapes, color and light. This challenges me as an artist. I embrace that challenge.
