Item Description
This is truly a piece of art yet is meant to be used. Handcrafted by Gretchen Cardoso, a Maui leathercrafter and saddlemaker, this awl is for use in loosening saddle strings and knots or making holes for buckles. The awl itself is made from an Axis Deer antler with Maui-style Hawaiian saddle scrimshaw and the laces are from Axis Deer rawhide. The case has a short latigo strap for hanging from the saddle horn which can be removed so the case can be tied directly onto the saddle with saddle strings. A truly one-of-a-kind item made for this auction.
