Item Description
In the early morning of Jan. 20, 2009, David Hume Kennerly started taking photos of the historic transfer of U.S. power on Inauguration Day. But it was on his way to the last inaugural ball when Kennerly took his favorite picture: an affectionate moment between Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, in a freight elevator at the Washington Convention Center.
"I was incredibly tired after a very long day of taking pictures," said Kennerly. "But when you witness such a tender moment, you know you have a great shot and feel incredibly privileged." He added: "I think this photo goes right to the heart of their relationship. It was like a high school prom for them, and they were king and queen."
Item Special Note
This framed photo is signed and numbered by Kennerly. It is a 16" by 20" archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta paper.
