Item Description
Jeremy Mercer, an award-winning author and journalist, will give you a personalized tour of Marseille, a bouillabaisse dinner at what he believes to be one of the most scenic restaurants in the world, and a night's stay in his guest room. (He'll pay for dinner for one person, but welcomes a companion traveling with the winning bidder.)
About the Lodging and the Dinner:
"The guest room is a separate apartment on the ground floor of the villa where I live. It has its own small kitchen and washroom. There is a great fig tree in the garden, along with grape vines, lemon trees, an apricot tree.
"The beach is a five minute walk down the road, while the Calanques are a five-minute walk out the back door. As for the restaurant, I have taken 17 people to this restaurant over the years, and every single person has declared this restaurant to be one of the top five dining experiences of their life. It is a breathtaking location and perhaps the best bouillabaisse in Provence."
About Jeremy Mercer:
His books explore French culture and history and have been translated into a dozen languages. As a writer for Ode, Mercer has dealt with such social phenomena such as the value of dissent in society and the role of altruism in economics. He is also a founding member of the Kilometer Zero arts collective and has performed or lectured on four continents. Mercer lives with his fiancée, two children, four cats, three chickens, and one white rabbit.
