Item Description
A great opportunity to explore the charms of New Canaan, recently featured in the New York Times Sunday Real Estate Section and the center of the world-renowned modern design movement from the ‘40s –‘60s.
First, for you and your companion, a private guided tour of the Glass House designed by Philip Johnson, one of the Harvard Five. Johnson used his house as a viewing platform to look out at the 47 acre landscape. You will go into the house which was his primary residence in later years and which still contains many of his personal artifacts including his Bauhaus furnishings. Next, a little shopping or sightseeing in New Canaan, followed by dinner for two at the Elm Restaurant in the center of town. Brian Lewis, the chef/owner and formerly chef at Richard Gere’s Bedford Post restaurant, prepares farm-centric, modern American cuisine in a lush but comfortable setting and of course has a wonderful wine list.
Finally, spend the night at historic, beautifully renovated Roger Sherman Inn – “flawless service and the utmost perfection in every detail” (“Living and Dining Magazine”) where inn owners Joseph and Nes will welcome you like family. After a restful night’s sleep, wake up to a complimentary breakfast at the Inn.
