Bloum Cardenas Figaro Mixed media 16 x 16 Bloum Cardenas was born in Bali. She is the granddaughter of Niki de St. Phalle and president of the Niki Charitable Art Foundation. Bloum uses an innovative process whereby she irons images from plastic bags onto canvas, creating a multi-textural, rich finish. She met Andre Cardenas (Bouba) in 1982. She graduated from high school in Paris in 1989, and went to New York with Bouba in 1990. From 1991 she studied Illustration, then Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design (NYC). She received a BFA in 1996 and moved to San Francisco in 1997. From 1997 to 2002 she worked to help organize Nikis archives and storages as well as her two large donations (to Sprengel Museum - Germany and MAMAC-France) and is now one of the three members of the Niki Charitable Art Foundation, promoting Nikis art around the world. Since 1997, she has been working on plastic bag paintings. She has had exhibitions in San Francisco (2001, 2004, 2005), Nice (2002) and Orange County (2003).
