Item Description
Try your hand at Caribbean and West African drumming with cultural educator, drummer, singer and Tamarack Hollow Founder/Gaia Roots co-founder Aimee Gelinas M.Ed.
Classes are ongoing year round weekly Monday Drum Classes at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, Pittsfield. 6pm Beginner/Intermediate & 7pm Intermediate/Advanced.
This dynamic, hands-on participatory community class focuses on folkloric and contemporary Afro-Caribbean and West African drumming, percussion and singing. Students will learn basic hand and instrument technique, an understanding of how drum patterns fit together, the cultural context of the music, fun and challenging drum patterns and exercises, accompanying songs in many languages and the opportunity to develop, arrange and perform finale presentations.
You will also receive a copy of the Gaia Roots Women's World Music ensemble's 19 track CD titled Mother Drum featuring traditional and original music from Cuba, West Africa, Haiti and beyond!
Item Special Note
No drum classes June 24th. Class if for adults and mature teens. All levels welcome, drums provided.
