Item Description
This item was made by the Kalandar women who are part of our women empowerment program. We are trying to help women in the Kalandar community to be able to earn an income through teaching them a vocation like 'sewing'. This helps alleviate the demand for poaching wildlife and 'dancing bears.'
Wildlife SOS has been diligently working from years in order to control poaching and illegal wildlife trade in India by reforming tribals that depend on wildlife for food, as a source of income and livelihoods;and by educating their children and empowering womenfolk as second wage earners.
Embroidery has been taught to Kalandar(tribal community) girls and these bags are a portrayal of there hardwork and dedication to achieve something in life. The purchase of this purse helps us with our efforts to prevent bears being poached to become 'dancing bears.'
