BETTER UNDERSTAND YOUR EMPLOYEES AND CULTURE

This auction item is designed to help you better understand your employees and your culture so that you can improve employee
engagement in your company. The program has two (2) components:

  1.  Online Culture Survey — Gain insight into employee perspectives and be empowered with an actionable understanding of your organizational culture. We survey all of your employees to help determine ways in which the organization can improve its culture to increase employee engagement.

  1. Assess Up to 100 Employees — Better understand your
employees individually and as a group. We will assess and provide feedback about your employees using an
assessment tool developed by InnerMetrix. The assessment has 3 sections and will tell you the following about each individual:
  • Behaviors — This report measures four aspects of a person’s behavioral style. It will rovide tips on how you should and should not communicate with each employee, their ideal work environment, and their preferred method of learning.
  • Motivators — This section of the report provides information on the why of employee actions by measuring seven dimensions of value and motivation. Once one knows the motivations that drive their actions, tone can immediately understand the causes of conflict.
  • Competencies — This section identifies key competencies to help understand which strengths should be leveraged, which competencies may become strengths, and what skills need to be developed to avoid derailing success.

BACKGROUND

Understanding your organization’s culture and the makeup of its human assets is critical to executing a successful strategy. Knowing your employees and the culture in which they perform are prerequisites to informed, aligned and successful decision-making.
This knowledge sets the foundation for creating actionable awareness around culture; provides a strong mechanism to engage employees; and impacts the whole of an organization, its critical functions, and positions.

Gallup, Inc. recently updated their well-known State of the American Workplace report. From 2010-2012 they surveyed 25 million employees in 189 different countries and 69 languages, asking them their famous 12 questions for measuring employee engagement. The results essentially showed that only 30% of all workers could be referred to as “Engaged Employees”. Engaged employees work with passion and feel a profound connection to their company. They drive innovation and move the organization forward.

This finding implies that 70% of today’s workforce is being paid to be “not engaged” or “actively disengaged.” A staggering 52% of employees are “not engaged”, meaning they essentially do just enough so they won’t get fired, but not more. The remaining 18% are “actively disengaged”. These employees aren’t just unhappy at work; they’re busy acting out their unhappiness. Every day, these workers undermine what their engaged coworkers accomplish.

What is also clear in Gallup’s findings is that faulty leadership is responsible for the 70% who are “not engaged” or “actively disengaged.” The evidence is supported by the facts that the 70% figure was not spread equally across companies and that there
also were differences within the companies studied. The primary difference was to whom those employees reported. This is important because when employees you have invested in are not engaged, you get less return on your investment.
