Item Description
An exquisite collectors' print from the Harvard Polo series, Artist's Proof giclée on paper, 36" x 48" (92 cm x 122 cm). Matted. Original painting is owned by Academy Award-winner Tommy Lee Jones, an avid polo player and Harvard alum.
George Pocheptsov was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1992 to Ukrainian parents. When Pocheptsov was 11 months old, his father became ill with a brain tumor and died in 1995 at the age of 40. George started to paint six months before he started to talk.
Completely self-taught, Pocheptsov is often compared by the press to a young Picasso or Chagall. His works have been commissioned by Hillary Clinton, Celine Dion, and Michael Jordan, among others. He is most know for his unique "sculptural paintings" an effect he creates by adding layers of canvas and gesso to his works giving them textures to form three-dimensional impressionistic pieces of art.
Pocheptsov recently joined the national Board of Trustees of the American Foundation for the Blind and has donated millions of dollars worth of art to charities including the "America's Promise" Alliance, Georgetown University Pediatrics, Duke University Pediatrics, The John Walsh Missing and Exploited Children Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, The American Cancer Society, and many others.
