Item Description

Jane Isay spent more than 30 years as a book editor and then finally decided it was time to take a turn at the wheel. She has since published three books on family dynamics including most recently, "Secret and Lies: Surviving the Truths that Change Our Lives." Jane will generously donate one hour to share her wisdom and experience in writing non-fiction books from the listening, to germinating, to drafting and rewriting. She will also help aspiring authors understand what to expect from their editor and how to make the most of that relationship.

Jane Isay spent over 40 years in the book business as an editor and publisher before she shifted gears and becoming a successful author in her own right. She was at the Yale University Press for 15 years before coming to New York publishing, where she was an executive at Basic Books, Simon & Schuster, Addison-Wesley, Putnam, and Harcourt. She published Alice Miller ("The Drama of the Gifted Child"), Mary Pipher ("Reviving Ophelia"), Antonio Damasio ("Descartes Error"), and Rachel Simmons ("Odd Girl Out"), and also some outstanding nonfiction including "Praying for Sheetrock," by Melissa Fay Greene, "Friday Night Lights," by H.G. Bissinger, and "Woe is I," by Patricia O' Conner.
