Item Description
We all know about Cape Cod with its beaches, traffic jams and crowds. But Cape Ann is the best-kept secret of those in the know. Just 45 minutes north of Boston, Cape Ann offers stunning beaches, great scuba diving, and world-class music, theatre, food and no crowds.
Come stay for a week in a beautiful carriage house in Annisquam on Cape Ann. Once a fishing village (and the birthplace of Unitarianism), this small enclave became the summering community of Boston Brahmins in the late 1880s. Since then, it has evolved into a Rockwellian hide-away with a private beach, a 100-year-old yacht club, and a restaurant considered one of the best in Massachusetts.
The world renowned Shalin Liu Performance Hall is just down the way in neighboring Rockport. Or, you can take in the latest Broadway play at the Gloucester Stage Company, founded by playwright, Israel Horowitz. If culture isn't your thing, you can enjoy deep sea fishing, whale watching, sailing, or just lounging on the beach.
The house itself hosts five bedrooms and can sleep 14 - perfect for a large family reunion or girl-friend gathering. It has a large outdoor fireplace and sits on an acre of grass just waiting for a game of badminton. The house is a five minute walk to the private Lighthouse Beach.
