Item Description
Open for play in 1999, The Roaring Fork Club, located in Basalt, is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. This par-72, 7,312 yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is sculpted along the dramatic contours of the river valley.
Respect for the land and the fine outdoor tradition of golf is evident in the layout of the 18-hole golf course. Jack designed this course along several benches on either side of the river. He was inspired by the stone outcroppings, tall stands of cottonwoods and roiling meadows that highlight the landscape.
There are a variety of distinct golf experiences, some of which, such as the double green on holes #7 and #15 and the shot over the railroad tracks on #14, are reminiscent of the old Scottish courses at St. Andrews and Prestwick. The course has five holes that play on or near the fast moving waters of the Roaring Fork River or Spring Creek. Hole #6 serves up an engulfing view of the river. Big hitters will be challenged to hit over the water. However, leaving the driver in the bag may be the wise choice.
The river also frames what may be the course's signature hole, #16. It is a spectacular par-3 with water guarding the entire flight of the ball as the shot makes its way to the sloping green, which lies directly on the Roaring Fork.
The orientation of the course allows dramatic morning and afternoon sun and stunning views.
Enjoy a round of golf for four people followed by dinner at the Lodge.
