Item Description
An amazing find! Don't miss this Antique Cast Iron Art Deco 'Artic Aire' 3-Speed Oscilating Floor Fan by Rochester's own FASCO. A glory of industrial design! All three speeds--high, medium, and low--are still in working order, as well as the oscillating action! The fan is in unrestored condition with original wiring and has not been cleaned or serviced. It shows some age-related wear. As full-sized floor fan, it features an 18'' cage and telescopes to 6 feet in height from a 20'' base. The floor fans of this make are highly collectible!
FASCO, originally known as the F.A. Smith Mfg. Company of Rochester, New York, began business in 1911 and by 1936, the company offered a full line of stationary and oscillating fans. F. A. Smith manufactured several lines of fans under various brand names -- Arctic-Aire, Royal Rochester, Spartan, and Viking, and King Kool. All of these brands were produced by F. A. Smith at the Rochester plant. The company became one of the largest fan manufacturers in this country in the late 1930s and continued to be a leader for the next three decades.
