Item Description

Mixed case (12 bottles) of Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant private label wine - produced by our scrutinizing wine team, including Master Sommelier, Peter Granoff.  Includes 2012 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, 2012 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and 2012 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Chardonnay
It saw a little bit of French oak aging, but only a smidge, and the resulting wine is medium-bodied and refreshing, with juicy yellow apple fruit and a touch of citrus and tropical fruit. There is always a period of nail biting between the time we assemble the final blend for one of our FPWM wines and the moment we open that first bottle a couple weeks after bottling, and I must say we are very happy with the way this wine turned out.

2012 Pinot Noir
We believe that the Sonoma Coast is producing some of the finest Pinot Noir in the United States. We are so proud of these wines that we put our name on the label. They represent many hours of work sourcing wines and creating blends with our partner wineries. Our reputation and credibility as merchants is on the line each time we create another offering of FPWM private label wine and we stand behind each and every bottle. Our last Pinot Noir came from the famed Carneros region and was a tough act to follow, but we think we have a winner in this successor from the cool Sonoma Coast region. Our 2012 delivers spicy, bright, dark cherry fruit, and several months in French oak rounds out the texture and adds complexity along with a lush cola berry note.

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
With this Cabernet Sauvignon for example, we felt the initial options lacked a little backbone of concentration and mid-palate richness so we asked about adding some Petite Sirah to flesh it out. Even with only 2.5% we think the Petite Sirah does just that making it a more robust, complete wine. The final blend includes 95% Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, 2.5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville in Napa Valley and 2.5% Petite Sirah from Calistoga. It was fermented and aged in 30% new French oak which shows a little on the nose but not so much on the palate where juicy black plum, blackcurrant and blueberry flavors (from the Petite Sirah) take over to delicious effect. It is medium to full bodied with supple ripe tannins on the finish. We think it will be a big hit and something that will appeal to anyone who appreciates Cabernet Sauvignon but doesn't want to wait 5 years to drink (though we feel it will be even better by then!)
