Item Description
Ever wondered what it would be like to glide over the water in a rowing shell? Intrigued by those rowers you've seen on the Charles River? Come get a taste of what rowing is all about. Enjoy a three-week, six-class session of rowing with Community Rowing.
Rowing is not only a sport that uses all your major muscle groups and, therefore, great for your personal health and fitness, but it is also a sport for life.
Each intro to Rowing session is three weeks in duration with two classes per week. Students learn water safety and boat handling as well as the basics of the rowing sweep. This basic introductory class is taught in the 12-person barge allowing participants the opportunity to learn rowing terminology and technique. Each rower controls one oar and the boat is steered by a coxswain, who will be a rower from the class. Upon successful completion of Intro to Rowing, students can progress to the Novice Sweeps program.
