Item Description
This George Rodrigue silkscreen print, "Cat Tie", measures 22"x28" and is considered rare as it depicts cats. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and is stamped with the official seal of the George Rodrigue Estate. This print is not for sale in any Rodrigue Gallery and is only accessible to the general public through non-profits.
George Rodrigue originally painted "Cat Tie" in 2010 to raise funds for Friends for Life No-kill Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, where it brought $180,000 at auction.
Six months after Rodrigue's death, the Neal Auction Company of New Orleans featured a Blue Dog on the cover of its June 2014 catalog. The painting is expected to bring $25,000 to $35,000. Rachel Weathers, the director of paintings and photography for the Neal Company, said that each work is unique but that the value of Rodrigue's art has increased since his death.
