Item Description

Late fall or a pleasant winter day are fabulous times for a southern New England birding adventure.  You’ll be guided by Dr. Michael Curtis on a daylong weekend adventure to one of a number of possible sites - Cape Ann (Gloucester, Rockport) MA, Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, RI, Trustom National Wildlife Refuge, Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge or the Connecticut Shoreline. Expect to see 10-15 species of over-wintering sea ducks, winter raptors including snowy owl and Rough-legged Hawk, and possibly 5-8 Gull species – likely 45-50 species in total.

Dr. Curtis has been an enthusiastic birder for more than 45 years and has seen about 650 species in the United States and over 1000 in worldwide.  He aggressively birds the U.S. every year, routinely seeing 500 species.  During your birding adventure, he’ll share anecdotes, stories and teach you about birds and birding in a fun, entertaining manner.

Transportation, refreshments and spotting equipment provided although if you have binoculars, all the better.  This will be a fascinating day for newbies and truly a memorable outdoor experience for the bird-curious.
