Item Description
Pin of Prominent Suffragist—Kate Sherwood- from Toledo, Ohio. BUT TODAY, a Great Statement about the wearer as a prominent Voter and one who is ardent about Women’s Right to Vote!
This is not a tradition Suffrage pin, but probably given as a honor to Mrs. Sherwood, who was very active in the Ohio Campaign for the Vote, loved for her poetry and her care for soldiers; she was National President of the Women’s Relief Corp.
Perhaps a 1908 Name tag! This piece is a perfect condition—ribbon is pristine, as is the metal and portrait. One could wear it today as a real conversation piece on an elegant suit. Notice that she uses the "Mrs." but not her husband’s first name. Issac Sherwood was a 9 term Congressman, editor of the Toledo Blade, a Civil War General and a noted pacifist in WW I.
