These wine brands are inspired by an incredible legacy and passion for the wine industry.

The Mondavi sisters’ great-grandparents, Cesare and Rosa Mondavi, purchased Charles Krug Winery shortly after the end of prohibition. It was Cesare and Rosa’s passion, determination, and vision that began to shape Napa Valley as one of California’s premium wine regions. The girls’ grandparents, Peter Sr. and Blanche, took over the winery operations in 1966 where grandfather Peter Sr. introduced revolutionary winemaking techniques commonly used today, including cold fermentation, cold sterile filtration, and aging wine in French oak barrels.

Those very techniques are techniques used by Angelina today to make the exotic (but far from traditional) Dark Matter Wines, techniques learned by Angelina at her grandfather’s side.

The family’s Howell Mountain vineyard property produces the grapes that go into Aloft. At 1,660 feet above Napa Valley, above the fog line, it is a vineyard surrounded by forests, seemingly worlds away. The southwest-facing slopes get the warm morning sun, but are protected from the blazing afternoon heat. World-renowned winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown makes the elegant Aloft, hand-selecting just enough fruit to create a mountain wine that is full-throttle, terroir-driven, complex, and lush.

And, what’s family without a cousin?

Now, fourth generation winemakers Rob Mondavi, Jr. and Angelina have teamed up to create the perfectly-named Fourth Leaf Cabernet Sauvignon. The eldest grandchildren of the late Robert Mondavi and Peter Mondavi, Sr., Angelina and Rob’s dynamic artisanal wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with grapes from Atlas Peak (Rob’s side) and Howell Mountain (Angelina’s side). Fourth Leaf is a handcrafted, limited production, one-of-a-kind-wine with one heck of a lineage behind the bottle.

Collection of California Sales Tax: Unless a valid resale permit is presented to seller prior to the sale, purchaser will be required to pay all state and local retail sales taxes applicable in the date of sale. Resale permits will be accepted only for businesses that are reasonably expected to buy and sell wine. Sales tax will be collected on the fair market value of each lot which contains tangible goods.

Shipping or Pick up of Wines: Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Non-Napa County winners must arrange for their wines to be shipped from The Packaging Company, beginning Friday, March 3, 2017. If you're the lucky winner, we'll call or email you with directions for making this happen.

Napa County winners of auction lots containing wine may pick up their wines at the St. Helena office of the UpValley Family Centers beginning Friday, March 3, 2017. If you are the lucky winner, we'll call or email you with details.
