Item Description
Raymond Vineyards -- a Napa Valley Icon and Landmark
--One Three Litre 2009 Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford District Collection
The Raymond family first arrived in Napa Valley in 1933 but released their first wine under the Raymond Vineyards label in 1974. Like all great family stories, the Raymonds put hard work and a pioneering spirit into their winery. Their dedication made Raymond Vineyards a classic Napa Valley icon.
Today that family tree is entwined with Burgundy’s esteemed Boisset Collection. Proprietor Jean-Charles Boisset has a history of elevating wineries to new heights, and Raymond Vineyards is no exception. Napa Valley veteran winemaker Stephanie Putnam oversees winemaking, while Vineyard Manager Eric Pooler has transitioned the estate vineyards to organic and Biodynamic farming practices, a hallmark of Boisset Collection properties worldwide. The winery has also renovated facilities and opened a visitor space with a focus on educating consumers and providing a place for them to nurture a passion for wine.
This 3 Litre 2009 Raymond Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, District Collection -- Rutherford, is a party in a bottle. The wine opens with aromas of black cherry and blackberry with a touch of wet stone. Flavors of dark chocolate syrup and Tahitian vanilla with a mocha finish are complemented with bold, well integrated tannins and a supple mouthfeel. This is a big, gutsy wine with fine acidity and overall balance that suggests this wine will have no trouble negotiating the next 20 years in your cellar….if you can wait that long!
