Item Description
This film has the power to dismantle stereotypes about men behind prison bars. "As the years passed, I buried the emotional grief of my mother's passing so deep and so quick that I never felt anything," says Johnny Mack Young, prisoner and Dhamma Brother, of the experience that brought him to meditation.
The setting of Dhamma Brothers is a violent maximum-security facility in Alabama's prison system. The tale is one of human potential and transformation as the documentary follows the stories of prison inmates at Donaldson Correctional Facility undertaking a program of intensive meditation training.
The Collector's Edition includes: feature length film; one hour of never-before-seen footage including personal conversations with the Dhamma Brothers, their families, and the meditation teachers; and digital widescreen presentation of the theatrical trailer.
The successful bidder will also receive a copy of Letters from the Dhamma Brothers: Meditation Behind Bars, by writer and documentary producer Jenny Phillips, intimate letters, interviews, and stories, that reveal the impact that a life-changing retreat had on this group of inmates.
Dhamma Brothers, the project, is a national conversation and a call to action about the need for effective prison treatment programs
