About Nama
(from “namazu”, japanese for “catfish”).
Nama, aka Yuko Sato, began studying pottery at art college in Tokyo. Since moving to San Francisco in 1996, she has continued working with clay, both hand-building and on the wheel.
Artistic Statement
“I love to make simple, natural tableware, because their purpose is to let the food “shine” and be the star. However, if some of my more playful designs with catfish or monkey drawings make people smile, that would also be a joy for me.”
