Item Description
School of Life is a large mixed media painting inspired by Third Grade’s study of biodiversity, fish, and South America’s Galapagos Marine Reserve. Inspired by French artist and designer Anne Limbour, School of Life is a fanciful work where feathers mimic fish, metallics mimic water, and order lives in chaos. It is at once modern, organic and light - while highlighting the interconnectedness of us all.
Each student carefully cut his/her unique selection of feathers into fish. The Third Graders then collectively painted the background of the large wooden canvas: white and iridescent acrylics were overlaid with genuine silver leaf, mimicking the movement and reflection of water.
After observing fish schooling and shoaling, the Third Graders then laid out a dynamic pattern on the canvas. Finally, each child's name was painted on a school of silver fish as a lovely memento of the third grade. The piece is professionally framed by the Framing Dragon - with UV protection and archival acrylic paints on an acid-free wood canvas. An 11”x14” legend is also included, with each Third Grader identified in this school of fish.
